This is the way I work out, and I know it’s gonna work out for you too!
You must always start each fitness session you do with a warm up and finish it with a cool down routine. I know it sounds boring but this is very important to condition your body. Whether you are going for a run, doing a gym class or doing my workout DVD at home, you should always, always warm up and cool down!

To get the best results from my DVD’s you should build up the intensity of your workouts over a 4-8 week period as you get fitter. Don’t go through hell from the get go, be gentle with your body in the beginning and build up your fitness level. If you are new to exercise try to complete four 30 minute sessions in the first week, building to four 60 minute workouts a week towards the end of the period.
The good thing is you don’t need special equipment to do these routines. Where it’s appropriate you can use a bottle of water or even a tin of beans, or nothing if you’re a beginner! These everyday objects can really help you progress with the workouts as they offer extra resistance, and they cost next to nothing. I use brooms and water bottles- believe it or not!
It is also very important to drink plenty of water whenever you’re exercising. My favourite water is Aqua Hydrate. These workouts will get your heart pumping and drive your metabolism so it is important to always stay well hydrated.
Before you start, watch each routine through to familiarise yourself with what’s involved. And that’s all there is to it.
The key to Totally Fit is not just exercising. You’ve got to eat healthy too. Without one you’re not going to achieve the other – you’ve got to have both of them going on to see and feel the results!
A big part of my whole Totally Fit plan is eating easy-to-prepare, fun and healthy food. On Totally Fit I will be inviting you into my beautiful home in L.A. and sharing some of my favourite recipes, including egg-whites with turkey, Mel B’s salmon and salad, my Big Broth plus my famous Army Slops. It’s all really easy, really healthy, super high in protein and it tastes delicious!
As well as doing my workouts I also like to get out in the open air for a hike or jog. I go out on the trails in the Hollywood hills, but you can find good places near where you live too. There’s no excuses, get yourself out there and burn those calories! I particularly like to go with friends so we can have a gossip at the same time.
It is essential to drink plenty of water every day to keep yourself hydrated. I drink AquaHydrate™ an ultra-Pure, ultra-hydration – health & fitness Drinking Water. Our bodies are over 70% water and water is a major part of every body part, system and function, in fact with the exception of oxygen, there is no other substance your body depends on more!
One thing that I know is a necessity is for you to take some ‘me time’. All this working out and hectic lifestyle means you just have to take a minute every day to be quiet and peaceful. So find yourself a quiet place, away from the kids, and chill! Try to do this first thing in the morning, set your alarm 5-10 mins earlier and be still and breathe deeply. It may sound airy-fairy but it begins your day off very positively.
